Description

Enjoy delicious oven-baked cheesy tacos with crispy loaded beef filling. These tacos are packed with flavor and topped with fresh ingredients for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 10 small taco shells
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup red onion, diced
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if desired. Add diced onion and cook until translucent (3-5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Step 2: Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef and onion mixture. Stir to coat evenly. Pour in tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow flavors to meld and liquid to reduce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Step 3: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place taco shells on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack and warm for 5-7 minutes until pliable and slightly crispy.
  4. Step 4: Carefully fill the warmed taco shells generously with the beef mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the filling in each taco.
  5. Step 5: Arrange filled tacos on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  6. Step 6: Remove tacos from oven. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, and chopped cilantro. Add any optional toppings like sour cream, jalapeños, guacamole, or hot sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

These tacos are incredibly customizable and adaptable to any dietary preference, making them a crowd-pleaser for families.
