Description
Homemade Cream Cheese Alfredo Sauce is a rich, creamy family favorite made with simple ingredients and ready in just 15 minutes. Serve over pasta noodles or use in any recipe that calls for alfredo sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter
- 8 oz cream cheese, cut into chunks
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 8 oz wedge parmesan cheese, shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Melt: Melt butter in a skillet pan or saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Mix: Add the chunked cream cheese and garlic powder, stirring with a whisk until mostly smooth.
- Boil: Gradually whisk in the whipping cream and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a low boil.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in the parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Rest: Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes to thicken before serving over pasta.
Notes
For best results, grate a wedge of parmesan cheese manually rather than using pre-shredded cheese. Allowing the sauce to rest for 5 minutes is essential for the final consistency.
