Description
This million dollar chicken casserole is supremely creamy, cheesy, and oh-so-easy! Juicy chicken is baked with an irresistible cream sauce, then finished with buttery Ritz crackers for a crispy topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 6 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup swiss cheese (shredded)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 to 4 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 sleeve Ritz crackers (crushed)
- 4 ounces melted butter
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat an oven to 350 F. Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray, set aside.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cream of chicken soup, cream cheese, sour cream, swiss cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper. Add the shredded chicken and mix until combined.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, stir together the crushed Ritz crackers and melted butter.
- Step 4: Spread the chicken mixture into the bottom of the baking dish, spreading out to the edges. Sprinkle the Ritz crackers evenly over the top.
- Step 5: Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the top is golden brown and it begins to bubble around the sides of the pan.
- Step 6: Let sit for 4 to 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
If the topping starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely tent the casserole with foil. This dish can be prepared one day in advance by assembling it without the cracker topping and refrigerating.
