Description

I’ve made this hot honey chicken thighs recipe more times than I can count, and every single time, it’s a hit. The combination of crispy, juicy chicken with the sweet and spicy sauce is truly what comfort food dreams are made of. I love how easy it is to make for a quick weeknight meal, yet it’s fancy enough to serve when guests are over.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2.5 pounds)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Step: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Pat the chicken thighs dry using paper towels. Season the thighs evenly with a blend of salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  2. Step: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the honey, sriracha sauce, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and salt. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, then set aside.
  3. Step: Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken thighs skin-side down for 7-10 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip and sear the other side for another 7-10 minutes.
  4. Step: Pour the prepared hot honey butter sauce over the seared chicken thighs. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  5. Step: Switch the oven to broiler mode for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Always pat the chicken dry before seasoning to ensure a crispy texture. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The sauce can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
