Description

These air fryer banana pepper coins offer a delightfully crunchy and flavorful snack. A double-crispy coating and tangy honey-lime glaze create an irresistible appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g banana peppers: sliced into coins, seeded
  • 120g all-purpose flour
  • 60g fine cornmeal
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp sea salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 120ml cold sparkling water
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 30ml olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 radish: thinly sliced
  • Microgreens

Instructions

  1. Prepare Peppers: Slice and seed banana peppers, pat dry.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, cornmeal, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. Make Wet Batter: Whisk egg, sparkling water, and 1 tbsp olive oil.
  4. Double-Coat Peppers: Coat peppers in flour, then batter, then flour again.
  5. Air Fry: Spray with oil, air fry at 200°C (390°F) for 8-9 minutes, shaking halfway.
  6. Make Glaze: Simmer honey, lime juice, vinegar, and ginger.
  7. Glaze & Garnish: Drizzle glaze, sprinkle with sesame seeds, cilantro, radish, and microgreens.
  8. Rest & Serve: Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure peppers are thoroughly dried before coating and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
