Description

These easy ground beef tacos are the perfect solution for a busy weeknight. They are warm, savory, and ready in just 25 minutes, featuring juicy seasoned meat and all your favorite crunchy toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 corn taco shells or small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced Roma tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Step: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef while breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula until fully browned (approximately 7 to 10 minutes).
  2. Step: Drain the rendered fat from the skillet.
  3. Step: Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the beef and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Step: Stir in the tomato sauce and water. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes until the liquid has thickened and the meat is moist.
  5. Step: Warm the taco shells in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Step: Assemble the tacos by portioning the beef mixture into the shells and topping with shredded lettuce, cheese, and diced tomatoes.

Notes

Store leftover meat in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water to maintain moisture. Grate your own cheese for the smoothest melt.
