Description

This Layered Taco Bake is a delicious, crowd-pleasing Tex-Mex casserole that combines the flavors of classic tacos with the simplicity of a layered dish. Perfect for busy weeknights, family dinners, or gatherings, this dish features seasoned ground beef, soft tortillas, and plenty of melted cheese, all baked together for a warm, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salsa con queso
  • 3 pieces 8-inch flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

Instructions

  1. Step: In a large skillet, brown 1 lb of ground beef over medium-high heat, crumbling as it cooks for about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Step: Add 1 packet of taco seasoning and 3/4 cup water. Stir and simmer until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup salsa con queso and mix until well combined.
  3. Step: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray an 8-inch round baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Step: Place one flour tortilla at the bottom of the pan. Spread 1/3 of the taco filling over the tortilla, followed by 1/3 of the cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  5. Step: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly, and edges of tortillas are golden.
  6. Step: Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Customizable Protein: Swap ground beef for turkey or chicken. Cheese: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Pepper Jack work well. For a gluten-free version, use corn tortillas. Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
