Description
A quick, flavorful, and nutritious 20-minute meal featuring succulent shrimp tossed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, served over a bed of fluffy jasmine rice.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup jasmine rice, rinsed
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1.5 cups water
Instructions
- Step: In a medium pot, add the rinsed rice and 1.5 cups of water. Bring it to a boil and then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for about 10-12 minutes until the rice is fluffy and water is absorbed.
- Step: In a small bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Step: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add vegetable oil. Once hot, add the shrimp. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turns pink and opaque.
- Step: Pour the honey garlic sauce over the shrimp in the skillet. Stir well to coat the shrimp evenly. Let cook for an additional minute until sauce thickens slightly.
- Step: Add the broccoli florets over the shrimp and stir gently. Cover and let it steam for 2-3 minutes until broccoli is tender but still bright green.
- Step: Remove the rice from heat. Fluff with a fork to separate grains.
- Step: In bowls, layer the rice at the bottom, topped with the honey garlic shrimp and broccoli. Drizzle any leftover sauce from the skillet on top.
- Step: Sprinkle chopped green onions over the bowls for a pop of color and added flavor.
- Step: Enjoy your 20 Minute Honey Garlic Shrimp & Rice Bowl while hot.
Notes
Use high-quality fresh shrimp for the best results. If using frozen, ensure they are completely thawed before cooking. Adjust the honey and garlic amounts to suit your personal sweetness and flavor preferences.
